An Introduction to This Site:
About.ThomasKenneth.com began in July of 2008 to give home to my stray thoughts about painting, which did not belong on the portfolio site, ThomasKenneth.com. The portfolio site stands as an abbreviated catalog of work I have created since I began painting with Oil in 2004. It has been my intention to present my paintings, absent from commentary, as they are encountered in an exhibition. Conversely, About.ThomasKenneth.com is the informal sister-site in which viewers will likely find candid comments about my work.
The original concept for this site was the About Painting section, which is a virtual continuation of the studio journal I keep to organize my ideas (with mostly technical concerns). The nature of publishing these notes publicly carries with it, of course, the expectation that they will be read. With that, I have attempted to organize the entries and feel obliged to point out that this organization, like everything else, is subject to change.
In an attempt to place my work into context, I am thinking too, about the work of others. The Art World section was created as a place to discuss things of interest in the world of art, as I see it. (This section is currently under construction. In the meantime, links to active content can be found on the blog.)
As I built the site, I created a blog that evolved into a casual version of all the other sections, and serves as the site's home page. The blog contains links to recent updates in the other sections as well as topics that did not fit into the other categories.
