July 30, 2008:

I must say, in all honesty, that I did not expect to finish the site this quickly. I anticipated a rather drawn-out process in which I would have plenty of time to actually write the content!

Therefore, although the site is nearing completion, it will be a little while longer before we lose lorem and the gang. It won't be all at once, so if you're in the habit of clicking around and looking for things, you may find some (...) surprises.

July 27, 2008:

During the construction phase, you may notice some strange text on this website. Moreover, you may ask yourself, what is Lorem ipsum?

To which I would respond:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. In volutpat.

While I am tempted to leave you there, I will provide you with this clue.

In other news: I renamed the “Recommended” section.

It is now titled “The Art World.”

It occurred to me that I may like to discuss things without implying a recommendation (i.e., criticizing a show, book, etc).

Thank you for your continued patience. The site is coming together...

July 24, 2008:

I expect that it will take some time to get the ball rolling here, so please be patient as I work out the kinks in the design of the site.

I will also ask you to keep in mind that I am not a web designer, and most of this is happening on-the-fly in a learn-as-you-go kind of way.

If you find any problems or have any suggestions, please feel free to bring them to my attention.

July 23, 2008:

Welcome to the about section of thomaskenneth.com, and the new blog.

When I first started thomaskenneth.com in 2004 I used the news section (previously titled “the periodical”) as a general blog, posting any number of comments and ramblings irrelevant to my paintings. In time, thomaskenneth.com became more of a portfolio site and less of a personal webpage plagued with irrelevancy.

I allowed thomaskenneth.com to develop this way because I wanted to present my paintings as themselves, apart from my personal beliefs and opinions, very much as they would be presented on the wall of a gallery. (And I’m prepared for the argument that the paintings themselves are full of personal politics: They are, but it’s up to you to extract them.)

The news section of thomaskenneth.com eventually became a place for exhibition announcements and other related things, and I resisted the urge to talk about Hudson (my cat) or rant about my noisy neighbors.

But those topics still need a home… and here it is (maybe).
